Helping the Recovery Efforts from Hurricane Helene

Stan Harris, our Junior Warden, shared this story about the time he and his wife, Sue, spent hosting two godsends from Washington State:

The journey began in Yakima, Washington, when my niece Natalie Roberts’ husband, Erik, was moved by the Lord to come to North Carolina to assist those affected by hurricane Helene. Erik and his friend, Mike, loaded a 30-foot trailer with tools, supplies, and equipment, and drove 2,800 miles to help the recovery and restoration efforts in WNC. In addition, Erik spent $14,000 for wiring and electrical supplies to restore service to houses and a church in the Swannanoa area.

While these two men were staying with us in Green Creek, we invited them to attend church with us at Good Shepherd. Mike brought his guitar, praying that he would be asked to play in our church. My wife was also praying for him to want to play. Mike played and sang with our musicians. After Erik and Mike returned to Yakima, MIke wrote and recorded “Little White Church on the Hill.”
